Wind farms at bald hills

This podcast follows the March 2006 decision by the Federal Environment minister, Senator Ian Campbell, to refuse a permit to windfarm developers near Bald Hills in Victoria's south Gippsland region. The Senator claimed the plight of the critically endagered Orange-bellied Parrot to be one of the key factors in his decision, which is interesting, given that the parrot has not been seen in the area for at least 7 years.

Biodiversity and langauge?

Biodiversity is often described as comprising three distinct parts: species, genetic and ecosystem diversity. In recent years cultural diversity has been added to this group at times, and this podcast examines just what this thing called cultural diversity, as it relates to biodiversity is. Known as biocultural diversity, this area includes an examination of local and indigenous languages, and supports efforts to save and revitalise them. So, what's it all about? What have indigenous languages got to do with biocultural diversity? And how does this all relate to biodiversity?
