Key Dates for Year 7 2013 Enrolments

Early February 2012 is when letters are posted to the parent/s of enrolled applicants, asking for confirmation of intention to pursue an enrolment for   Year 7 2013.

If yes, the letter will direct the following actions:

1. Check and if necessary, amend the data at the top of the Preference form. 2. Indicate first, second and third preference of secondary school for the child. This is the pivotal question, as the school which is chosen as the first preference is likely to be the school which will offer an interview. Having more than one preference will not have any impact on how Whitefriars considers your application. It merely helps us know where your preferences lie when we exchange lists with other schools, and ensures applicants have not listed more than one school as their first preference.

3. Only if Whitefriars is first preference, parents are to indicate on the form whether they prefer a morning or afternoon interview, as Whitefriars hold interviews on a Saturday.

4. Only if Whitefriars is first preference, both parent/s and student are to fill in the attached Interview Questionnaire form.

Applicants whose first preference is not Whitefriars still need to return their Preference form. This form is held on file until we are advised by the applicant they have accepted an offer from their first preference school.

If no, parents must fill in the withdrawl slip and return it to the College.

Friday 2 March 2012 is when all applications for enrolment in Year 7 2013 are to be received.

Friday 9 March 2012 is the date both the Preference and/or Interview Questionnaire forms, or Withdrawl slip must be returned to the College.

Friday 16 March 2012 is the date neighbouring colleges exchange a list of applicants.

Saturday 24 March 2012 is the date interviews will be held.

Friday 30 March 2012 is the date by which Principals of neighbouring colleges have exchanged lists of students who are to be offered a place at the College.

Friday 20 April 2012 is the date on which offers of places to prospective Year 7 students are to be posted. The Catholic Education Office insists that schools do not advise prospective parents of this information in advance of this date, as this leads to difficulties for other Catholic schools and disrupts the enrolment process. It is a matter to which schools should give the highest priority in terms of co-operative processes across the Archdiocese.

Monday 7 May 2012 is the final date for acceptance by parents of offers made.
