College Programs and Facilities
Through our Curriculum, students are encouraged to discover and develop their own interests and talents. Our Pastoral Care, Transition, Notebook, Personal Development, Outdoor Learning, Special Education and Sporting Programs along with many extra-curricular activities, complement the teaching and learning process as students progress through the College.
Whitefriars offers a wide choice of studies, with courses in Religious Education, English, Languages (Indonesian, Italian and Mandarin), Mathematics, Science, Information Technology, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, SOSE, Commerce, Physical Education as well as an Outdoor Learning Programme.
Whitefriars staff focus on using leading edge learning and teaching practices to engage boys. 2012 saw the innovative introduction of Tablet Computers for students in Years 7 and 10. This program will be rolled out over the next three years. The College's extensive computer network facilitates communication and learning both within the College community and beyond it. The College has a permanent high speed Internet connection which can only be accessed when booked by a staff member strictly to enhance learning. No social media sites are accessable on campus. In addition, Whitefriars has developed an Intranet to enhance the spread of information within the College.Beyond the class situation, students can pursue their interests through individual instrumental tuition, drama and musical productions and many sporting opportunities.
A comprehensive, modern and technologically advanced library serves as a rich resource to all areas of teaching and learning. The College has extensive facilities to support student learning and well-being: Arts Centre/Visual Arts Centre, Unique Bush setting (19 Heactares), Design and Technology Centre, International Learning Room, LOTE Resource Centres x 3, Performing Arts/Drama Centre, Religious Education Centre, Basketball courts x 5, Trade and Industry Centre, Multi-purpose areas x 2, Weights/Circuit Centre, Year 12 Common Room, Lecture Theatre, Counselling Rooms, Soccer pitch, Gymnasiums x 2, Music Centre, Recording Studio, Science Laboratory x 7, Cricket Nets x 3, Media Suite, Theatrette, Wireless Site, IT Labs, Chapel, Wetlands, Ovals x 2, Halls x 2 and a Canteen.
